A big catch up...

We did had a lot of big events happen in our life within one year. I got a new job at Central Community College as a VESL specialist. I specialize in helping ESL students through college, but I am also the technology guru of our grant as well as a Getting Ahead in a Just Gettin' by World (addresses issues with people living in poverty) and I will become a Bridges out of Poverty trainer and a Career Development Trainer. I have really missed teaching high school, but am really enjoying the college life. It is an adjustment, but I finally found things to do to fill my nights instead of grading papers and planning for the next day. However, I did give up my summers off. I really enjoyed having some time to do things that I loved, and now that I have Knox, I wish I could go back to that to spend the summers with him, however, I wouldn't have a lot of time during the school year to be with him, so I guess it is an even trade. Plus, I now have more than two vacation days to use, so I will be using those to spend more time with him!

We also bought a house in December and moved into the house on December 31. I want to take a minute to thank everyone who helped us move and get settled into our house. A lot of people were there, including our parents and our family and friends. I wanted to thank you for showing up, carrying things and helping us in the ways that you did. I was 9 months pregnant and not a huge help. I was probably really crabby too, so if I was mean to you I apologize! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

Anyway, our house was built in 1960 and some things stay that way. We still have the original cabinets in the kitchen, and a very retro sink and tub in the bathroom. The basement still has the original flooring and a really funky green paint (that is led based, so we won't be feeding Knox any paint chips from that room) The rooms are all very spacious and have great closets! We feel that we got a great house, and we get to add our touches to the house by redoing the kitchen and bathroom and basement. The pictures were taken when we went to look at the house, so any of the furniture in the house didn't stay, besides the amazing cabinets in the basement!

Immediately after we moved in I painted! I started with Knox's room, because I knew that he was coming soon! I am in love with this room and I still can't believe that I painted the tree... Thanks pinterest for the grand ideas!

I then went on to paint the living room, our bedroom, the kitchen and the laundry room. I painted our room while I was still pregnant (and yes, I was on a ladder, but no one knew it at the time!) I had an extreme urge to nest, and I couldn't stand our new house not ready for the baby. The other rooms had to wait to be painted, because Knox showed up on January 8!
